Carin Doben was educated as an art historian. In 1985 she created an educational program "Art Quest" to teach children critical and creative thinking skills using visual images that were integrated with school curriculum. She retired in 2012 after thirty years of teaching.
Carin spent a lifetime looking at art. In high school she studied figure drawing at The Art Students League in New York City. Her desire to pursue a career as an artist was discouraged. While teaching Art Quest, she took studio classes sporadically when time allowed. When she retired Carin started taking classes at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts. She was finally able to attempt what she had always wanted to do, create works of art.
Doben's compositions are spontaneous and active with a strong sense of color. She is inspired by the world around her and current events.
